Current Stage of Thailand’s Regulatory Approach to AI
The EU has recently seen the groundbreaking establishment of the world’s first regulatory framework for artificial intelligence (“AI”), ratified by the European Parliament on 13 March 2024 which is set to be fully implemented by 2025 (“EU AI Act”). Meanwhile, in Thailand, various AI ethical guidelines have been introduced by relevant agencies since 2022 to raise awareness of ethics among those providing or utilizing AI-related services. However, the absence of enforceable regulations for this burgeoning technology remains conspicuous. In this newsletter, we aim to shed light on Thailand’s current stance towards AI regulations.
