On 4 January 2017, Chandler MHM Limited (“CMHM”) officially launched enhanced operations following completion of the practice integration of Chandler and Thong-ek and Mori Hamada & Matsumoto (Thailand). The combined firm is one of the few law firms in Bangkok with Thai, Japanese and Western qualified lawyers and comprises a team of 53 lawyers.

CMHM is a Bangkok-based, uniquely strong law firm that delivers high quality advice to clients across Asia, particularly on complex, cross-border transactions. The firm’s strength draws on more than 40 years’ experience in Southeast Asia’s emerging markets, and on-the-ground know-how in Thailand, Japan, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Yangon and Jakarta. Satoshi Kawai is Co-Managing Partner at CMHM. His primary practice areas are corporate/mergers and acquisitions, regulatory/regulated transactions, and litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). His areas of expertise also include: private equity, venture capital/start-ups, banking, securities, insurance, pharmaceuticals/medical sciences, consumer law, and all aspects of dispute resolution including arbitration and white collar crime. Satoshi has received top recognition as a leading individual in mergers and acquisitions from established publications such as Chambers Global, Chambers Asia, Legal 500 and IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate.

Masatake Yone is a Partner at CMHM. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and international practice. Masatake had prior experience at respected law firms in New York City and London, and external expertise includes acting as Vice President of Daini Tokyo Bar Association, and lecturing for the University of Tokyo Executive Management Program.

Seiji Akimoto is a Partner at CMHM. His primary areas of practice are corporate acquisitions and reorganizations, and he specializes in cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He has abundant experience handling corporate acquisitions and investments involving companies located in countries across the globe, especially those in Asia.
 
Hidetomo Futami is Of Counsel at CMHM. He joined Mori Hamada & Matsumoto in 2002 having previously worked at law firms in Thailand and Myanmar and has continued to hone his particular expertise in cross-border transactions involving Southeast Asian countries, including direct investments, mergers and acquisitions and securities and finance matters. His expertise extends to laws and regulations relating to doing business in Thailand and its neighboring countries, such as corporate laws, the Alien Business Law, labor laws and arbitration laws. He also has broad experience involving other Southeast Asian countries including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
